StopKillingYourSelf™
The Problem:
Americans are killing themselves at an unprecedented rate. An estimated 300,000 deaths in the US per year are associated with poor nutrition, sedentary lifestyle, obesity, and the accompanying high rate of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer. The Central Intelligence Agency’s Fact Book rates US life expectancy at 50th place, far below Jordan (38th), Bosnia and Herzegovina (43rd), and Cyprus (45th). The key reasons: 67% of the US population is overweight and nearly 20% of 4-year-olds are obese. Health experts are now asking whether America’s children will be the first in the nation’s history to live shorter lives than their parents.
The main culprit in this ever escalating health problem is the massive leap in the daily caloric consumption by Americans during the past three decades; from 2,450 average daily calories in the 70’s to the present 3,600 daily calories; a jump of a whopping 47%. Most of the added calories are from processed foods, highly sweetened drinks, and jumbo sized restaurant servings. Acceptance of obesity is so prevalent that overweight police officers, fire personnel,

and medical professionals are becoming a common sight. The latest development is the need for jumbo coffins which have to be hoisted by cranes and transported on flat bed trucks. Unless specific steps are taken to change the eating habits of a majority of the affected population, health problems and resulting disease management costs are sure to escalate.
The Solution:
The StopKillingYourSelf™ program is designed to help change the nation’s high-calorie and low-nutrition food habits. The recipes in this program are based on high quality low-fat proteins, whole grains, health promoting oils, immune system supporting herbs and spices, and high fiber fresh fruits and vegetables. The program also includes a number of Italian, Mediterranean, Chinese, Mexican, and Indian master sauces that are nutritious, easy to prepare, and can be frozen for future use. As you begin to prepare and enjoy these dishes, you will gradually move away from the calorie rich, low nutrition, high sodium, and free radical producing junk foods so deeply imbedded in our nation’s diet.
This program is under development.
